Des Duncalfe – Radcliffe West

I was first elected as a Councillor for Radcliffe West in May 2022 and have happily served since then. It has been a busy time for all eight Radcliffe First Councillors, doing everything we can to look after the interests of Radcliffe residents. Some of the work involves the everyday things we are all bothered about such as reporting potholes, faulty streetlights, anti-social behaviour concerns etc. Radcliffe First has also become the voice of Radcliffe residents in the Council Chamber and we have been able to win two very important motions of social value with full Council backing. I continue to volunteer with several groups in the town. I am happy to have been the instigator of the re-opening of St Phillips Community Centre which is now back in full use and a great community asset to Radcliffe.

If I am re-elected, I will concentrate on the following:

  • Insist that the promise of brownfield first is used to its fullest extent.
  • Continue to speak on behalf of the many people who are struggling with rapidly increasing cost of living.
  • Speak out against the continuing rush to build flats and HMO properties in the town and champion affordable starter homes.
  • Push for the building of new Social Housing.
  • Speak out in Council for the town and people of Radcliffe and insist on our fair share of council services.
